2003 Domaine de Murmurium Cotes du Ventoux Carpe Diem

Robert Parker skriver: ”The 2003 Cotes du Ventoux Carpe-Diem was fashioned from minuscule

yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare for the Grenache (50% of the blend) and 15 hectoliters per hectare for

the Syrah (50% of the blend). This 11,000-bottle cuvee was aged 12 months in barrel, of which 40% is new.

Reminiscent of a mini-Hermitage from southern France, it boasts a saturated purple color as well as

blockbuster concentration and richness, high alcohol, medium to full body, and surprising freshness

for its size and extract. It will deliver glorious drinking between 2006-2012.”

Robert Parker skriver: ” The non-malolactic 2003 Cotes du Ventoux blanc (a blend of 70% Clairette and

the rest equal parts Roussanne, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc) is an elegant, Chablis-like white revealing

notes of lemon oil, pears, and oranges. Loaded with fruit, medium-bodied, crisp, and fresh, it will provide

immense pleasure over the next 1-2 years. “

Robert Parker skriver: ” The generic 2003 Cotes du Ventoux rouge is a blend of 65% Grenache,

30% Syrah, and 5% Carignan. An interesting note of white chocolate is intermixed with kirsch, scorched

earth, and peppery characteristics. This dense, medium to full-bodied, supple-textured, tank-aged red should

drink well for 1-3 years.

Robert Parker skriver: ” The superb 2003 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee Talisman (60% Syrah from yields

of 10 hectoliters per hectare and 40% Grenache from yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare) is an impressive effort.

Only 4,000 bottles were produced, but it is a full-bodied blockbuster exhibiting a dense ruby/purple color as well

as sweet notes of kirsch liqueur, cassis, smoke, espresso roast, pepper, and Provencal herbs. Consume this

glorious red over the next 7-8 years.”
